It works very well in boiling 6 gallons of water. It is a little tricky starting the flame. Once it goes it heats up fairly quickly. The downside to the fryer and also the upside if one were to fry oil is the 20 min timer. It is nice to have just in case one forgets to turn it off but, it is also a pain when boiling water due to the timer shutting off the flame. It is easy to regulate the flame in several spots. On the tank valve and on the reguator. Clean up is easy but metal cleaner is a must. The flame burns rich and soot build up on the pot happens. Most of the build up rinses off but the aluminum pan has mini grooves that capture the soot. That is the most frustrating part. Overall we like this and have used it several times for brewing.
