This review is from: TruTemp Deep Fry Thermometer (Kitchen) Yes, it truly does have a 12" stem (picture angle is somewhat decpeptive). Great for deep frying pots; a little difficult to use with shallow pots. Note: manufacturer recommends tip being immersed in at least 2-1/2" of oil for an accurate reading. You may not have that depth of oil in a shallow pot. Appears to work great, though. For deep frying turkeys it would be great.
